Variety of ways to write this decimal

I chose to represent the number 5.23 in a variety of ways.  Did you know that there are 52 tenths and 3 hundredths in this number.  You can also say that there are 5 ones + 2 tenths + 3 hundredths....that's the same as 5 + 2/10 + 3/100.  It sometimes gets confusing but once you get it, its not really. We have been learning about the decimal place value system.  We have been learning about how many tenths, hundredths and wholes are in any given number.  We were also challenged to share the different ways in which we can show our learning.
I hope this helps improve your understanding of the decimal place value system like it did me.
Blog you later.
